WIRE becomes new parnter institute for µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï

Prof. Dr. Daniel Graewe LL.M. joins µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï with his Institute for Applied Business Law

On 1 April, the Institute for Applied Business Law (WIRE), headed by Prof. Dr. Daniel Graewe, LL.M., is launching a cooperation with µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï. As central competence centre for legal research, it will henceforth collaborate closely with the dual business school. The aim of the cooperation between µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï and WIRE is an intensive exchange on the topic of business law, the promotion of teaching and research, and the further expansion of the cooperation between industry and university.

"We are very pleased to have Professor Dr. Graewe and his team of proven experts as partners for our university," says Professor Dr. Insa Sjurts, President and Chairwoman of the µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï Management Board. "Our university, in particular of course students and researchers, but also our partner companies will benefit considerably from this connection."

WIRE will remain a legally independent institution but will be closely intertwined with µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï and help to intensify the cooperation between the university and the industry. Joint research projects, especially in the field of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG), joint publications and conferences such as the ESG Annual Conference will not only promote research and teaching in law, but also executive education at µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï. In addition, Prof. Dr. Daniel Graewe will also be available for courses on corporate law and ESG as well as supervision of student research projects and theses. Students can get involved in the activities of the WIRE Institute within the framework of projects.

The focus of the Institute for Applied Business Law is on the topics of corporate law and ESG, their applicability and design. The Institute's work includes the analysis of the current legal situation and current legislative proposals, a regular exchange of knowledge and experience with companies, law firms and associations, and the elaboration of possibilities for improvement at all levels. In addition to the research work, the institute serves as a network platform for the mutual professional, but also personal exchange of all partners involved, such as the directorate, the scientific advisory board, the associated scientists, lecturers and students of µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï, Hamburg business representatives and practitioners from legal practice.

About Prof. Dr. Daniel Graewe

Daniel Graewe has been Director of the WIRE Institute since 2016, founded his own law firm in 2021 and is one of the leading business lawyers in Germany. He studied law and political science in Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Japan and completed his doctorate on a corporate law topic in the field of corporate governance at the University of Cologne. In 2016, he accepted a professorship in business law at a university in northern Germany. There he founded the Institute for Applied Business Law and headed the master's programme in business law until the end of March 2022. In 2019, he was a Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on corporate law, restructuring & reorganisation, venture capital and commercial law.
