Short Profile

Sebastian Ebbing has been an external doctoral student at µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï in the Technology & Market Department since October 2022 and is supervised there by Prof. Dr. Max Johns.

As part of his PhD, he is working on the sustainable decarbonization of international maritime transport and the maritime economy through the use of on-board CO2 capture, the necessary logistics, and the establishment of a global CO2 circular economy in order to feed CO2 into industrial processes as a recovered resource in the future.

After his bachelor's degree in Nautical and Maritime Transport and his master's degree in International Maritime Management, he dedicated several years to regulatory climate protection issues, the maritime energy transition including the development of climate-neutral fuel strategies as well as digitalization and innovation projects for a Hamburg-based shipping company.

Since 2021, he has been a founding and board member of the "Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainable Logistics" at Jade University of Applied Sciences, where he has been a lecturer for Maritime Technologies with a focus on "climate-neutral shipping and alternative propulsion technologies" since 2019.

As Technical Advisor for Climate Protection, Fuels, Innovation and Promotion at the German Shipowners' Association, Sebastian Ebbing has been advising political stakeholders and maritime companies in the context of ongoing regulatory developments at national, EU and UN level since 2021.
