Accommodation: At BI the student housing is guaranteed for every exchange student. There are different student housing options in different parts of the city with several options. I decided to apply for BSN which is the student housing directly next to the university.
BSN is a shared flat arrangement with another exchange student, where we each have our own bed room equipped with a bed, desk and closet. The kitchen and bathroom are communal spaces. It’s a place Id recommend, especially since its popular among exchange students and conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the university.
Activities and more: With the onboarding week, the university provides starting activities for all students. These events are good opportunities to meet new people, both, internationals and domestic students. The BI provides a free coffee each Tuesday and Thursday at a student coffee shop, where you can meet a lot of people.
Another opportunity for a good start and social life at BI is to join one of the several different sport teams at BI.

Accommodation: The accommodation planning at BI is easy since they have housing providers that partnered up with them and their own student housing close to university. There is a guaranteed housing for all exchange students if you apply within the deadline.
BI’s student’s accommodation BSN is located closely to the university and thus convenient. There are only BI students living there, which makes meeting people easy.
Transportation: For public transportation you should download the “Ruter” app. You can buy the monthly student ticket or a single ticket, depending on where you live and how much you want to move around the city.
The infrastructure of public transportation is convenient, since BI is connected to busses, the metro, and if you walk a bit, even the tram.
Food: The cheap grocery stores in Norway are; Rema1000 and Kiwi. Bunnpris and Joker are the grocery stores that are open during Sundays and public holidays as well, but a bit more pricey.
Activities and more: Even though Oslo is a smaller city, there are a lot of things you can do. Oslo has a lot of museums, nice areas to walk around, sights to see and (especially in nice weather) a lot of outdoor activities.
Some of the main sights/nice areas in my opinion are: Royal Place, Opera House, Aker Brygge, a walk along the river Akerselva and Sognsvann to have a BBQ.
The ESN network organizes quite some activities as well in case you want to go hiking or do other activities to meet even more people outside of BI.

Accommodation: Unfortunately the cost of housing in Norway is very high, which is why it is even more advantageous that you can apply for apartments directly through BI Norwegian Business School. You can apply for many different types of apartments throughout Oslo via the SiO website. There are entire apartments, furnished and unfurnished rooms with shared or private bathrooms.I got my apartment through SiO and lived in Kringsjå. This was about 20 minutes by train from the university. I had a furnished room with my own bathroom and a shared kitchen.
Transportation: The public transport network is excellent, you can easily get around on buses, streetcars and trains. I particularly liked the option of renting bikes or e-scooters to explore the city when the weather was good. You can buy tickets for buses, trains and ferries via the “Router” app. This allowed us to visit the nearby islands on our free days.
Food: The university canteen was a great advantage. Every day there were two different hot meals, an extensive salad bar, a pizza station and ready-prepared snacks such as yoghurt or sandwiches.
Activities and more: Oslo allows a wide range of cultural activities, museums and parks. My personal highlight was that you could hire skis and equipment for free from BUA and then simply take the train for half an hour out of the city and into the ski area.
